SUMMERSIDE - Sometimes in sports, teams just have to tip their hat to the opposition.
That was exactly the case for the Team P.E.I. men's beach volleyball team Thursday morning. Quebec's Karl DeGrandprÉ and Emmanuel AndrÉ-Morin eliminated Andrew Costa of Summerside and Brian Hansen of Alberton from medal contention with a 2-0 quarter-final match victory. Game scores were 21-14, 21-16.

"We played the way we wanted to," said Hansen, who had five kills, six assists and two digs. "We wanted to come out and stick with them.
"They're a great team and other than a few errors I thought we did exactly what we wanted to do."
Costa finished with six kills, four assists and four digs.
"We played right with them," commented Costa. "We had a couple of lapses that gave them a three- or four-point lead and we just couldn't pull back.
"It was our best game mentally because when they got ahead, we kept playing with them and our passing was awesome. We're not disappointed."
DeGrandprÉ and AndrÉ-Morin each registered 14 kills. DeGrandprÉ added 14 assists and four digs while AndrÉ-Morin had 10 assists and six digs.
P.E.I. will play New Brunswick for fifth place today at 10 a.m.
"P.E.I.'s best-ever finish was ninth, so winning the fifth-sixth match against New Brunswick, which we lost to in the round robin, would be like a gold medal for us," said Costa.
P.E.I.'s record is 2-3.
