SUMMERSIDE -- Russ Howard of New Brunswick and P.E.I.'s Mel Bernard remained unbeaten at the 2009 Canadian senior curling championships in the late afternoon draw at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club on Monday.

Howard downed Brad Whitehead of the Northwest Territories/Yukon 10-4 for his second win of the day. Howard, who defeated Nova Scotia's Bryan MacPherson (1-3) in the morning draw 9-5, is 6-0.

Bernard stole back-to-back single points in the eighth and ninth ends to double Northern Ontario's Ian Fisher (2-4). Bernard (4-0) faced Quebec's Mike Carson (1-3) in Monday night's draw.

In the other men's game in Draw 10, Alberta's David Olsen stole six points in the ninth end of a 14-5 victory over Newfoundland and Labrador to improve to 2-3.

In women's play, Wendy Ondrack (2-4) of the Northwest Territories/Yukon stole a single point in an extra end to post a 7-6 victory over New Brunswick's Sharon Levesque (1-5); Northern Ontario's Barbara Ward (4-2) scored two with the hammer in the 10th end to down P.E.I.'s Shirley Berry (1-3) a 9-7 setback, and Newfoundland and Labrador's Barbara Pinsent (2-4) stole seven points in a 9-2 decision over Alberta's Peggy Harper (1-4).

Manitoba's Lois Fowler (5-0) and Nova Scotia's Colleen Pinkney (4-0) took perfect records into Monday night's 11th draw.
