SUMMERSIDE -

SUMMERSIDE - Norris Rogers drove Seanne Lad to victory and a new win-race record in the featured event at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway on Wednesday night.

The four-year-old brown horse by Drop Off - Dylans Gem - Our Daily Bread won the $2,000 pace in Race 12 in 1:57.4 - the fastest mile of the 13-dash program. Fractions were 28.3, 58.4 and 1:27.2.

Louie Fernandez, driven by Kenny Arsenault, placed and the Marc Campbell-driven Rebelryan finished in the show position.

Janet Murphy of Kensington owns Seanne Lad, whose previous lifetime record was 1:58.3. Dale Sobey trains Seanne Lad.

Driving hat trick

Marc Campbell enjoyed a big night in the sulky, recording three driving wins. He won with Tasteful Benka (2:06.3 - a maiden record), CCS DS Dream (2:00) and Grayland Hill (1:59).

Rogers, Terry Gallant, Brian MacPhee and Mike Stevenson all made two trips to the winner's circle.

Other winners on the card were:

R BS Rainbow (2:02.4), Braceforthechill (2:03.4), Western Cadillac (2:06.4 - a maiden record), Courtside (2:00), Freddy My Boy (2:00.3 - a new race-win record), Oceanview Connie (2:02.1), Tobins Star (1:58.4), Best Of Life (2:00.2) and Chester The Name (1:59.3).

The total live wager was 9,702.

The next live card in Summerside will be Thursday, July 1. Post time for the traditional Canada Day program is set for 1 p.m.
