CHARLOTTETOWN – Hockey P.E.I.’s minor and junior councils have decided to explore the option of a “junior recreational” program for male players between the ages of 18 to 23.

Recently, some members looking to explore a possibility of a junior recreational league for young males that do not play junior hockey have approached the branch. There is a sense that there are many young male players that have limited options to play hockey after they graduate from minor hockey, and these players are not interested in playing within a junior league.

The concept would be similar to an adult recreational program, where teams may play once or twice a week.

At this stage, Hockey P.E.I. is calling for players that may have an interest to submit their name to the office. Based on the interest level, this option will be further explored in the coming months. Players are not required to make any commitment at this time.

Players that may be interested should email with their name, date of birth and home community. Players may also contact the Hockey P.E.I. office at (902)-368-4334 to register.
