Western Capitals goaltender making jump to university hockey

Chamberland, who joined the Summerside Western Capitals of the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) in October, will suit up with Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston, Ont.
A native of Thetford Mines, Que., Chamberland played with the Woodstock Slammers during the 2012-13 MHL season. He started the past season with the Abitibi Eskimos of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League before joining the Capitals.
Chamberland provided a steadying influence behind a young-and-rebuilding Caps’ team in his final year of junior eligibility. In 31 games, Chamberland posted a 12-13 (won-lost) record with a 3.21 goals-against average, a .908 save percentage and he had one shutout.
In the playoffs, Chamberland recorded a 1-3 record, a 3.30 goals-against average and an .891 save percentage.
