MONTREAL – Brett Gallant of Summerside played in his second career National Hockey League regular-season game on Thursday night.
The left-winger, who made his NHL debut against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night, played 7:17 in the Islanders’ 2-0 road victory over the Montreal Canadiens before a sellout crowd of 21,273 at the Bell Centre.
Gallant did not record any points, and dropped the gloves for the second game in a row. After fighting the Senators’ Matt Kassian, Gallant went toe-to-toe with veteran tough guy George Parros at 2:46 of the second period. Gallant recorded one shot on goal and registered two body checks.
The Islanders, who will not qualify for the post-season, will close out the regular season with road games against the New Jersey Devils on Friday and the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.
