Gallant to play for Islanders tonight

Summerside’s Brett Gallant will make his NHL debut tonight for the New York Islanders.

They host the Ottawa Senators in their final home game of the season tonight at 8 p.m.

The Islanders recalled Gallant Monday from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

The 25-year-old forward has for 245 penalty minutes, a goal and an assist. This season marks Gallant’s third full campaign with the Sound Tigers and his fifth professional season.

Prior to his professional career, Gallant skated for both the Saint John Sea Dogs and his hometown Summerside Western Capitals

    Only fitting that an Islander plays for the Islanders. This guy has grit and toughness. Not a huge body either. Good luck Brett. Good to see another Islander in NHL.
