KENSINGTON – The Summerside Capitals capped a perfect weekend by winning the P.E.I. Bantam AA Boys Hockey League championship recently.

The Capitals, behind the shutout goaltending of Camren Gavin, blanked the North River Flames 3-0 in the winner-take-all final at Community Gardens.
The Capitals punched their ticket to the deciding game with a 4-2 victory over the Charlottetown Abbies in the semifinals.
The Capitals opened round-robin play with a 4-1 victory over the Flames, and followed that up with a 4-2 triumph over the Southside Lynx. The Caps completed the round robin with a 5-1 win over the Montague Norsemen.
Following is a look at Summerside’s games:
Capitals 3 Flames 0
Patrick Bernard, Alec MacKinnon and Brandon Hastings provided the Capitals’ offence. Assists were credited to Tanner Doiron, Mac Buchanan, Nick Gallant and Dylan Mugridge.
Cedric Stead tended goal for North River.
Gavin was named the Capitals’ player of the game.
Capitals 4 Abbies 2
Riley Payne scored two goals to spark the Caps, who received single tallies from MacKinnon and Sam McNeill. Bernard, Mugridge and Matt Thompson collected assists.
Chris Sear and Micheal Favier replied for the Abbies. Ryan Cameron and Conner Jones earned assists.
Gavin recorded the goaltending win, and Gavin Fogerty was between the pipes for Charlottetown.
Capitals 4 Flames 1
Payne had two goals and a helper while Bernard chipped in with a single marker and an assist to ignite Summerside’s offence. MacKinnon added a single goal, with assists going to Buchanan and Isaac Oram.
Carter Worth, assisted by Kyle Doiron, netted the lone North River goal.
The goaltenders of record were Gavin and Stead.
Capitals 4 Lynx 2
Thompson, Mugridge, Bernard and MacKinnon found the back of the net for the Capitals. Payne and Buchanan were credited with assists.
Nathan Paynter and Morgan Darbyson countered for the Lynx. Jaden Nantes and Dakota MacPhee assisted.
Devon Newberry earned the goaltending win over Cameron Ralph.
Capitals 5 Norsemen 1
Payne (2-1) and Oram (1-2) each had three points for the Capitals. Bernard (1-1) and Gallant also scored while MacKinnon and Hastings chipped in with single assists.
Chandler Gordon, who was set up by Matthew MacDonald and Justin MacCarthy, netted Montague’s goal.
Gavin was the winning goaltender, and Anthonie Honkoop tended goal for the Norsemen.
