North River Team Two claims atom AA ch’ship

ALBERTON – It was all North River Flames in the championship game of the P.E.I. atom AA hockey championship tournament here at the Jacques Cartier Arena on Sunday.

North River Team One scored the only goal of the first period, but it was all North River Team Two the rest of the way. The North River Flames Team Two scored twice in the second period, and once in the final 12 minutes to take the championship game 3-1. Landon Hardy scored twice and added an assist in the winning effort. Aiden Ross had the other North River Team Two goal, and Matthew Mills added an assist. 

Josh Smith was the winning goaltender.

Nicholas Farrar scored the only North River Team One goal late in the first period.

The two North River teams were in the same pool for the eight-team tournament. North River Team One won the round-robin game between the two Flames’ teams 3-2.

Flames Team Two defeated Gulf Storm 1-0 in one semifinal, and the Flames Team One were 3-2 winners over the Summerside Capitals in the other semifinal to set up the all-North River showdown.
