Aces erupt in third period to retake series lead over Lynx

Game 4 in Tignish on Sunday night

CRAPAUD – The Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces erupted for five third-period goals in a 7-6 come-from-behind win over the Southside Lynx on Saturday night.

The win gives the Aces a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven championship series in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League. Game 4 is scheduled for the Tignish Credit Union Arena on Sunday at 8 p.m.

At the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud, Colton Dawson’s second goal of the game with 3:06 remaining in the third period gave the Lynx a 6-4 lead. However, the Aces got back in the game on a Tyson Carragher goal with 2:25 to go, and Alex Brennan (1-1) tied the game with 1:05 showing on the clock. Ryley Doyle (1-2) then netted the game-winning goal with 16 seconds remaining in regulation time.

Brett Gaudet (1-2), Lucas Gaudet (1-1), Riley Shea (1-1) and Karter Hackett also lit the lamp for the Aces, who received other assists from Kirk Ramsay (2) and Jacob LeClair.

Alex MacLeod’s three-goal effort led the Lynx, who held period leads of 2-1 and 4-2. Sawyer Mayne added a single tally, and single assists went to Rob Miller, Andy Murphy, Joel McIsaac and Tim Paynter.

Chase Dyment picked up the goaltending win over Dylan Garnhum.

The Lynx was assessed four of the game’s six minors. Each team picked up one fighting major and one game misconduct.
