Game 3 at Credit Union Place on Sunday evening

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Charlottetown Abbies are one win away from winning the P.E.I. Irving Oil Bantam AAA Hockey League championship.

The Abbies trimmed the Summerside Capitals 6-2 on Saturday afternoon to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five final. The Capitals will look to stave off elimination on home ice Sunday, when they host Game 3 at Credit Union Place's Ice Pad. The opening faceoff is set for 6 p.m.

At Simmons Sport Centre, Robbie Howatt (2-2), Andrew Campbell (1-3) and Chris McQuaid (1-3) all had four points to lead the hometown Abbies, who won the series opener 4-3 in Summerside on Wednesday night. Jacob Hood (1-1) and Thomas Casey also scored while other assists went to Kelly Barnett and Dallen Bulger.

For the regular-season-champion Capitals, Tyson Arsenault (1-1) and Connor MacAulay found the back of the net. Liam Kerwin, Evan Gallant and Jack DesRoches added single assists.

Ava Boutilier earned the goaltending win, and Evan Richard took the loss.

The series winner will represent P.E.I. at the Atlantic Irving Oil bantam AAA hockey championship in Mount Pearl, N.L., from April 3 to 6.
