CENTRAL BEDEQUE – The first Donuts hockey tournament was held at the Bedeque Area Recreation Centre recently.

The Puck Dynasty team went undefeated in the first Donuts hockey tournament at the Bedeque Area Recreation Centre recently.

Donuts hockey is an adult skills group for men and women who have never played hockey before, or haven’t played in a long time. Participants get a chance to play and learn the fundamentals of the sport.

“We are just like the ‘Timbits,’ but a lot bigger,” notes a media release. “Our coach puts focus on skating skills as well as puck handling and positioning in a fun environment. This removes any intimidation of a faster rec. league.”

A total of four teams participated in the tournament, and Puck Dynasty came out on top after posting a perfect 5-0 (won-lost) record.

Members of the Puck Dynasty team are Rob Squires, Mark Blanchard, Ryan McCourt, Erin Johnston, Corrine Costain, Ryan Schofield, Noel MacFarlane, Jeff MacPhee, Darren Robinson, Shawn Hume and Scott Costain.
