Arsenault had three goals and two assists while Shea scored twice and assisted on three others in leading the Regals’ attack. The win gave the Regals a 3-1 series win in the best-of-five semifinal in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League.
The Regals will now face the Mid-Isle Matrix in the best-of-five championship series. Game 1 is at the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
With the Regals already guaranteed a berth in the Atlantic minor midget AAA hockey championship tournament in Alberton later this month as the host team, the Matrix will also receive a berth as the P.E.I. representative.
At Credit Union Place, the Regals led 3-0 after the first period and increased that margin to 6-1 in the middle frame. However, the Capitals refused to quit and scored three goals before the end of the second period to make it a 6-4 game following 40 minutes.
Curklan Fraser (1-2), Jeff Gaudet (1-1) and Chase McCue also scored for the Regals. Brendan Shea (2), Jason Gallant and Brett Aylward added assists.
Chasse Gallant’s hat trick and two-assist effort led the way for the Capitals. Jesse MacFarlane and Spencer Groom added singles while helpers went to Owen Arsenault (2) and Joel Arsenault.
Winning goaltender was Kristen Clements. Blake Arsenault was between the pipes for Summerside.
