KENSINGTON – The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild spread out the offence in a convincing win in Game 1 of the best-of-seven P.E.I. provincial major midget hockey championship series.

The Wild trimmed the Charlottetown Mark’s Work Wearhouse Islanders 9-2 before a big crowd at Community Gardens on Saturday night. The Islanders will look to bounce back in Game 2 at MacLauchlan Arena on the UPEI campus Sunday at 1:45 p.m.
Colton Chiasson led the Wild with one goal and three assists while Sam Jay netted a brace and assisted on another. Max Morrison (1-1), Kyle Pinksen (1-1), Cole Hackett (1-1), Riley Gallant (1-1), Austin Taylor and Spencer Sherren rounded out Kensington’s scoring. Jesse Jay (2), Dillon Wall (2), Bailey Webster, Jesse Annear, Campbell Gallant, Abel Arsenault and Michael Evoy chipped in with assists.
Jonathan Arsenault netted the Charlottetown goals. Johnathon Larter and Shawn Corney set up both markers.
The Wild built period leads of 2-1 and 6-2.
Winning goaltender was Cameron Visser. Overall, the Wild outshot the Islanders 41-31.
