BELFAST – The Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces roared back in a big way after a slow start on Saturday night.

The Aces spotted the host Belfast Sabres a 3-0 lead after one period, but answered back with six unanswered goals for a 6-3 victory in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League playoffs. The win gives the Aces a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series, with Game 4 at the Tignish Credit Union Arena on Sunday at 8 p.m.
At the Belfast Recreation Centre, Brett Gaudet (1-2), Riley Shea (1-2), Dylan Rayner (1-1), Lucas Gaudet, Traven Gaudet and Charlie Bernard scored for the Aces, who led 4-3 after 40 minutes and added two insurance markers in the final frame. Karter Hackett (2), Kirk Ramsay and Ryley Doyle earned assists.
Dustin Gunn (1-1), Michael McQuillan and Robert Hicken staked the Sabres to the early lead. Single helpers went to Mitch Doucette, Simon VanWeichan, Matthew Glover, Connor Lea and Brady Doiron.
Winning goaltender Jake Hackett stopped 36 of 39 shots. Jason Whiteway gave up six goals on 40 shots in 49 minutes of action for the Sabres, and Ben Ladner stopped all nine shots he faced over the final 11 minutes.
