CRAPAUD – The Southside Lynx staved off elimination in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League playoffs on Saturday night.

The Lynx jumped out to period leads of 2-0 and 6-1 in an 8-3 home-ice victory over the Souris Hawks at the South Shore Actiplex. The Hawks, though, still lead the best-of-five semifinal series 2-1, and can eliminate the Lynx with a win at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris on Sunday at 7 p.m.

In Game 3, Colton Dawson scored twice while Andy Murphy and Cody Dawson each had a goal and two assists to lead the regular-season-champion Lynx. Marshall Thomas (1-1), Joel MacIsaac, Greg Beckingham and Chron MacVittie also lit the lamp for the Crapaud-based Lynx. Other assists went to Brandon Green (2), Willie MacGuigan, Rob Miller, Blake MacKenzie and winning goaltender Dylan Garnhum, who finished with 31 saves.

JD Farrell (2) and TJ Donahue countered for the Hawks. Single helpers were credited to Darcy Nicholson, Mitch Power, Patrick Malone and Gabriel Leger.

Souris goaltender Seth Nicholson gave up five goals on 18 shots in 38 minutes of action, and Kelton Ellis stopped 13 of 16 shots in 22 minutes.
