Amherst Ramblers 5 Summerside Western Capitals 2

The Amherst Ramblers took advantage of home ice to defeat the Summerside Western Capitals 5-2.

Brock Morrison started it off early for the Ramblers, scoring just one minute and thirteen seconds into the game, assisted by Ben MacDonald and Willie MacDonald. Six minutes later, Ryan Craswell advanced the advantage with assistance of Morrison and Cam MacDonald.

Brad Power responded for the Capitals sixteen seconds later, assisted by Brett Doiron.

The Capitals evened the score near the end of the second period, with Joey Colartarci and Blaize Bridges assisting on Thomas Stavert’s goal.

The game fell apart for the Capitals in the last half of the third, when Robert Davis scored the game winner at 14:06 (Ross Martin, Shane MacDonald), Ryan Craswell took them ahead by two at 18:01, and Brett Shute (Morrison) finished the scoring with an empty-net goal at 18:32.

There were four penalties in the game, but no power play goals.

Amherst goaltender Richard Tingley stopped 23 of the 25 Capitals shots, earning him 1st star status in the game. Ramblers Robert Davis took the second star spot, while Capitals goaltender Alex Kelly merited third spot for facing 46 shots from the Ramblers.

The game renders Amherst Ramblers with a 31-16-1-2 record, while the Capitals lag with a 21-23-2-3 record.
