CHARLOTTETOWN – Summerside Western Capitals forward Thomas Stavert of Kensington has been called up by the Charlottetown Islanders for Wednesday’s Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game.

Thomas Stavert of the Summerside Western Capitals has been called up by the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Stavert is expected to be in the Islanders’ lineup against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.

Stavert, 18, leads the Capitals in scoring with 49 points, including 28 goals, in 47 regular-season games.

A recent first-star of the week in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League), Stavert is on a nine-game point streak with the Capitals. He has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in those nine games.

The Capitals are back in action on Thursday, when the Amherst Ramblers visit Eastlink Arena for a make-up game. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
