The Hawks scored three goals before the five-minute mark of the second period, and then held on for a 4-3 win on Sunday night to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series.

The Lynx will look to stay alive with a home-ice win in Game 3 at the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud on Saturday at 7:40 p.m.

At the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris, Jordan Roche led the Hawks with two goals while JD Farrell and Darcy Nicholson each added a goal and an assist.

Rob Miller (1-1), Cody Dawson (1-1) and Taylor Buote replied for the Lynx.

The teams were tied 1-1 following 20 minutes, but the Hawks took a 4-2 advantage into the second intermission.

Seth Nicholson earned the goaltending win while Southside starting goaltender John Miller took the loss. Miller gave up four goals on 18 shots before he was relieved by Liam Jay, who stopped all 18 shots he faced over the final 35 minutes.

Referee Jeff Affleck called two minor penalties against each team.
