NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – Rookie goaltender Alex Kelly made 38 saves in backstopping the Summerside Western Capitals to a 5-3 road win over the Pictou County Weeks Crushers on Saturday night.

Summerside Western Capitals goaltender Alex Kelly of Kensington turned in a 24-save effort in Friday night’s 4-2 road win over the Bridgewater Lumberjacks in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League).
The MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) game was played before 761 fans at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
The win improved the Caps’ record to 19-22-2-3 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses), and the Crushers fell to 31-12-0-5.
The Capitals are back in action on Sunday as the Bridgewater Lumberjacks visit Eastlink Arena for a 2 p.m. start.
In New Glasgow, N.S., Blaize Bridges and Maxim Pitre each had a goal and an assist while Mitch Henneberry and Thomas Stavert each chipped in with two assists to lead the Capitals offensively.
Cavan Fitzgerald, Isaac Jay and Joey Colatarci also scored for the Capitals, who received a single helper from Alex Bradley.
For the Crushers, Nick Parker (1-1), former Capital JP Harvey and Brandon Parsons found the back of the net.
The Capitals directed 30 shots at Crushers goaltender Brandon Thibeau. Kelly’s busiest period was the middle frame, when he turned aside 17 of 19 shots.
