At MacLauchlan Arena on Sunday night
HALIFAX – The UPEI Panthers and Saint Mary’s Huskies are going the limit in the Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey playoffs.
The Huskies defeated the Panthers 4-1 on Friday night to force a deciding game in the best-of-three quarter-final series at MacLauchlan Arena on the UPEI campus on Sunday. Game time is 7 p.m.
Before 622 fans at the Halifax Forum, the Huskies built period leads of 1-0 and 3-1. After Saint Mary’s outshot the Panthers 14-7 in the first period, UPEI held a 27-16 advantage over the final two periods for an overall total of 34-30.
Offensively, Stephen Johnston and Stephen MacAulay each scored twice for the Huskies. MacAulay’s second goal came into an empty net in the game’s final minute.
Reggie Traccitto countered for the Panthers, who won the series opener 3-1 on home ice Wednesday night.
Anthony Peters earned the goaltending win over Wayne Savage.
