Murray River native Brandon Gormley, a Memorial Cup winner in 2012, is currently playing with the AHL’s Portland Pirates.

Murray River’s Brandon Gormley was recalled Wednesday by the Phoenix Coyotes.

The six-foot-two, 200-pound defenceman has six goals and 26 assists in 48 games this season for the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes’ American Hockey League affiliate. Gormley’s 32 points ranks tied for third on the team in scoring and ranks seventh in points among all AHL defencemen.

The 22-year-old has appeared in 116 games with Portland in his career, recording 11 goals and 50 assists. The Coyotes drafted him in the first round (13th overall) in the 2010 Entry Draft.
