OTTAWA – The UNB Varsity Reds maintained the No. 2 position in this week’s top-10 Canadian Interuniversity Sport men’s hockey rankings.

The Varsity Reds, who are coached by Bedeque native Gardiner MacDougall, completed the Atlantic University Sport Men’s Hockey Conference on a 13-game winning streak to finish in first place and earn a bye to the semifinals. UNB, which blanked second-place Acadia 2-0 in a first-place showdown in Saturday night’s regular-season finale in Wolfville, N.S., compiled a record of 24-3-1 (won-lost-overtime losses).

Acadia, which remains at No. 3, is 21-4-3.

The only other AUS team ranked nationally is Moncton (17-11-0), which is No. 10.

The UPEI Panthers were not ranked, but did receive one vote.
