Mid-Isle hosts Pownal in Cornwall

CHARLOTTETOWN – The P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs will get underway on Tuesday.

P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League

The Mid-Isle Matrix, who finished the regular season in second place, will host the Pownal Red Devils in the curtain-raiser of the best-of-five quarter-final series. Game time at the APM Centre in Cornwall is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Matrix, who won four of five head-to-head meetings against the Red Devils, finished the regular season with 16 wins in their last 18 games, including a 14-game winning streak.

"We are looking forward to getting the playoffs started against Pownal," says Matrix head coach Mike Lord. "We will need to continue getting contributions from all four forward lines, and depend on our defence and goaltenders to continue their normally stingy defensive play."

Pownal will turn to leading scorers Harrison Hayden and Logan Toole to lead its offence in the playoffs. Captain Colin MacEachern will be relied on to log plenty of ice time, and will lead the team's defence that has improved significantly as a group over the course of the season.
