ALBERTON – The Western Regals salvaged a tie in their final two regular-season games in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League over the weekend.
The Regals and Summerside Hemphill GM Capitals skated to a 2-2 draw on Saturday, and the Alberton-based Western team dropped a 3-2 decision to the Kings County Kings on Friday night.
The Regals finished the regular season atop the seven-team league at 21-4-5 (won-lost-tied).
At the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton, Jeff Gaudet’s goal at 19:34 of the third period lifted the Regals into the tie. Jake Arsenault also scored for Western.
Cody Deighan and Owen Arsenault answered for the Caps, who completed the regular season in fourth place at 10-15-5.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and the Capitals took a 2-1 advantage into the second intermission.
Goaltenders were Avery Arsenault and Koby Bridges.
