Aces storm back in third to edge Flames

TIGNISH – The Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces roared back from a 5-2 deficit in the third period to edge the North River Flames in an important playoff game in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Friday night.

The final score of the game, played at the Tignish Credit Union Arena, was 8-7. The Aces now lead the best-of-five quarter-final series 2-1, with Game 4 at the APM Centre in Cornwall on Sunday at 7 p.m.

The Flames led Game 3 2-1 after the first period, and went into the final frame with a 4-2 cushion. After the Flames scored in the first minute of the third period, the Aces answered with five unanswered goals to take a 7-5 lead.

Brett Gaudet (2-1), Riley Shea (1-3), Kirk Ramsay (1-2), Karter Hackett (1-1), Dylan Ellis (1-1), Tyson Carragher and Troy Gallant scored for the Aces.

Ryan McGuigan (2-1), Logan LeClair (1-1), Jeremy MacAulay (1-1), Dan MacPhee, Adam Gallant and Cody White replied for the Cornwall-based Flames.

Winning goaltender was Chase Dyment, and Taylor Doyle took the loss.
