KENSINGTON – The Mid-Isle Matrix split a pair of back-to-back games in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League this week.

The Matrix lost 3-2 to the Pownal Red Devils on Monday night, and downed the Sherwood Falcons 4-0 on Tuesday night.

The Matrix is now 20-8-1 (won-lost-tied), and sits in second place in the seven-team league.

At Community Gardens in Kensington on Tuesday night, James Murphy netted a brace, Drew Grady had a goal and two assists and Cody Miller added a single tally for the Matrix, who led 2-0 after the first and second periods. Ben Keefe, Jayden Reid, Brennon Jarvis and Kurtis Green added assists.

Alex Smith recorded the shutout. Jeremy Ramsay was the goaltender of record for Sherwood (10-11-7).

Referee Chas McNeill called five minors against the Matrix. The Falcons were whistled for three minors and one double minor for head contact.
