In Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League playoffs
CHARLOTTETOWN – Nolan Irving scored at 5:29 of overtime to give the Belfast Sabres an important win in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League playoffs on Monday night.

The Sabres edged the Sherwood Falcons 2-1 to even the best-of-five quarter-final series at 1-1. Sherwood won the opener in Belfast 3-2 on Friday night.
At the Cody Banks Arena, Brady Doiron opened the game’s scoring for Belfast at 12:42 of the first period. Jack Panting (2), Cody McGuirk and Connor Lea assisted on the two Belfast goals.
Zach Morrell, assisted by Joe Ready, answered for the Falcons, who finished 31 points behind the Sabres in the regular season.
Belfast led 1-0 after the opening period, and the teams went into second intermission deadlocked 1-1.
Winning goaltender was Ben Ladner while Steve Lannigan was the goaltender of record for Sherwood, which outshot Belfast 40-35.
Referee Thane Arsenault called a total of 10 minor penalties – six of those against Belfast.
The series resumes in Belfast on Friday at 8:30 p.m., with the Falcons hosting Game 4 back at the Cody Banks Arena on Monday at 8:35 p.m.
