As regular season comes to a close

SUMMERSIDE – The P.E.I. Irving Oil Bantam AAA Hockey League regular season is winding down as teams position themselves for a playoff spot.

The Summerside Capitals will play their final four games in the next four days – two at home and two on the road.

Thursday, the second-place Capitals, who are 18-3-2 (won-lost-tied), will host the Pownal Red Devils (9-14-2) at Eastlink Arena for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.

The Caps will then lock horns with the Kings County Kings (9-18-1) at Credit Union Place’s Ice Pad on Friday at 6 p.m.

Saturday, the Capitals will travel down Route 2 to Kensington’s Community Gardens for an encounter with the Mid-Isle Matrix (11-13-3). The opening faceoff is set for 4:20 p.m.

The Capitals then close out the regular season in Pownal on Sunday at 6:20 p.m.

Capitals head coach Todd Richard is looking forward to having a full roster at his disposal.

“We are excited to be getting back some players that have served their suspensions,” said Richard. “We are expecting these guys to add some jump to the lineup starting against Pownal.

“Our players have battled hard with a short bench battling injuries and suspensions.

“By the weekend, we hope to have a full lineup for the first time in over a month. . . We need a full-team effort each and every night as every point is important as we head down the road to the playoffs.”
