SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Western Capitals will be heading to northern New Brunswick on Wednesday.
The Capitals will visit the Campbellton Tigers in a make-up game in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League). The opening faceoff at the Campbellton Memorial Civic Centre is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The game was originally scheduled for Nov. 20, but was postponed due to high winds on Confederation Bridge.
The Capitals, who have 13 regular-season games remaining, can all but wrap up the final playoff spot in the Roger Meek Division with a win. The fourth-place Caps hold a 13-point lead over the Tigers, who have 10 games remaining in the regular season.
The Caps sit at 14-20-2-3 (won-lost-overtime-shootout losses) while the Tigers are 9-31-1-1. The Caps also hold three games-in-hand on Campbellton.
The Capitals come into the game having lost three straight one-goal games, including a shootout decision to the Roger Meek Division-leading Miramichi Timberwolves on Saturday night.
The Capitals’ next home game at Eastlink Arena is Friday against the Valley Wildcats (18-19-3-1) at 7 p.m. The Caps also host Miramichi on Sunday at 2 p.m.
