POWNAL – JP Provencher scored with 2:24 left in overtime to lift the Holland College Hurricanes to a 4-3 win over the Montague Maniacs on Monday night.

The Island Junior Hockey League make-up game was played at the Pownal Sports Centre.
The Maniacs picked up a point for a tie in regulation time to close to within two points of the league-leading Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers. The Maniacs are 19-6-2 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) while the Vipers, who have played two fewer games, are 21-4-0.
The Vipers travel to the Evangeline Recreation Centre to face the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Nick MacDonald’s goal with 1:11 remaining in the third period tied the game 3-3 for the Hurricanes (6-17-0-3). Adam Gardiner (2-1) scored the other two Holland College goals, with assists going to Jonny Richards (3), Will Connolly and Curtis Hall.
Connor Myers (1-1), Matt Higgins and Chris Stevenson replied for the Maniacs. Spencer Ross (2), Stewart Branstrom and Peter MacLeod chipped in with helpers.
The Hurricanes led 1-0 after the first and second periods.
Overall, the Hurricanes outshot the Maniacs 51-41. Matt Derry earned the goaltending win over Tyler Whiffen.
Referee Tim Hamel five minors and two 10-minute misconducts against the Maniacs. The Hurricanes picked up three minor infractions.
