Islanders lose 6-2 to Victoriaville

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Victoriaville Tigres broke open a tie game with three goals in the final seven minutes of the second period in defeating the Charlottetown Islanders 6-2 Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Jean-Francois Plante scored twice at Eastlink Centre while Jan Mandat, Mark Tremaine, Angelo Miceli and Philippe Hudon scored singles for the Tigres. Former Islanders forward Yan-Pavel Laplante had an assist on Hudon’s third period goal.

Spenser Cobbold and Troy Vance scored for the Islanders.

Francois Tremblay made 30 saves for the win while Eric Brassard stopped 46 shots in the loss.

The game was tied 2-2 after the first period and the Tigres took a 5-2 lead to the third.

Victoriaville improved 25-19-4-2 while Charlottetown dropped to 17-30-1-4. They have lost nine straight games.

Charlottetown plays Friday in Moncton.
