Mid-Isle’s winning streak reaches 13 games

SOURIS – The Mid-Isle Matrix made it 13 straight wins in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League on Saturday night.

Spencer Francis scored twice and assisted on another in leading the Matrix to a 5-2 road victory over the Kings County Kings at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex.

The Matrix improved to 18-6-1 (won-lost-tied) while the Kings dropped to 6-13-6.

Liam O’Connor, Jacob Stewart and James Murphy also scored for the Matrix while single assists were credited to Cody Miller, affiliated player Jayden Reid, Alex Wood, Drew Grady and Brennon Jarvis.

Kenny McKinnon and Kiersten Steele answered for the Kings. Tyler McGillvray and Colby Mooney assisted.

The Kings led 1-0 after the first period, and the teams went into the second intermission tied 2-2.

Sean MacPhee picked up the goaltending win, and Jed Walsh was the goaltender of record for the Kings.

The Kings were called for eight minors while the Matrix picked up five minors and one double minor for head contact.
