Skate to tie with Abbies

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Western Regals extended their unbeaten streak to five games in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League on Saturday afternoon.

The Regals skated to a 3-3 tie with the hometown Charlottetown Abbies.

The league-leading Regals, who have only one loss in their last nine games, improved to 19-3-4 (won-lost-tied). The Abbies are 8-12-7.

At Simmons Sport Centre, the teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and the Regals took a 2-1 advantage into the second intermission.

TJ Shea, Brett Aylward and Brandon Williams scored for the Regals, who received assists from Brendan Smith (2), Calvin McRae, Jake Getson and Jake Arsenault.

For the Abbies, Quinton Gorman (1-1), Ryan Lawless and Drew Gallant found the back of the net. Matt Lange assisted on all three goals while Alec Brown and Kyle Doucette added singles.

Goaltenders were Kristen Clements (Regals) and Alex Dunne (Abbies).

The Regals were assessed eight minors, one double minor for head contact and one gross misconduct. The Abbies were called for five minors.
