Johnston has big game vs. Islanders

VICTORIAVILLE, N.B. – Former Summerside Western Capital Ross Johnston of Suffolk Road scored twice and added an assist as the Victoriaville Tigres defeated the Charlottetown Islanders 4-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Saturday.

Former Islanders forward Yan-Pavel Laplante and Cameron Yarwood also scored in the win. Mark Tremaine had two assists while Carl-Antoine Delisle, Jonathan Diaby, Samuel Blais and Peter Sidlik each had one.

Brad Kennedy and Spenser Cobbold scored for the Islanders while David Henley and Guillaume Rioux-Legault had assists.

The Islanders lost their sixth straight game to fall to 17-27-1-4 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses) while Victoriaville improved to 23-19-4-2.

Victoriaville held period leads of 1-0 and 3-1.

Francois Tremblay made 26 saves for the win, and Mason McDonald stopped 35 shots in the loss.

The Islanders play their third game in three days Sunday at 5 p.m., Atlantic time, at Drummondville (29-16-1-2).
