Brenton has two points in UPEI Panthers victory

CHARLOTTETOWN -- Matt Brenton scored the game-wining goal on a third-period power play Friday for the UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men’s hockey action.

The fourth-year forward from Colchester County, N.S., scored with 2:21 remaining as the host Panthers defeated Moncton 2-1.

Brenton assisted on Dana Fraser’s goal in the second period. Chris DeSousa, Travis McIsaac and Matt Maione also had assists.

Eric Faille from Danny Chiasson and Pierre Durepos accounted for Moncton’s scoring.

Wayne Savage made 17 saves for the win while Adrien Lemay stopped 28 shots in the loss.

UPEI (11-7-2) is tied for third place with Moncton (12-8) in the AUS standings.

The Panthers host UNB Saturday at 7 p.m.
