Islanders open weekend road trip with 4-1 loss in Sherbrooke

Jean-Christophe Laflamme scored a pair of shorthanded goals in the third period Friday as the Sherbrooke Phoenix defeated the Charlottetown Islanders 4-1 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Former Islander forward Matej Beran had a goal and an assist while Mitchell Lundholm had the other goal for the host Phoenix.

Kameron Kielly from Daniel Sprong and Mike DiPaolo scored for Charlottetown.

The Phoenix held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1.

Former P.E.I. Rocket Maxime Lagacé stopped 26 shots for the win while Eric Brassard made 22 saves in the loss.

The Islanders fall to 17-25-1-4, five points up on the Phoenix is 14-27-3-3.

Charlottetown concludes the weekend road trip in Quebec with games today at Victoriaville at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at Drummondville for a 5 p.m. game. Both times are Atlantic.
