UPEI Panthers down Dalhousie Tigers in women's hockey action

UPEI Panthers

Kiana Strand and Christina Kelly each scored twice as the UPEI Panthers defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 6-2 Friday in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women’s hockey action.

Anja Weisser and Ferran Brown added singles as the Panthers improved to 8-10. They are tied for fifth place with Mount Allison in the seven-team conference. The last-place Tigers are 5-12-2.

Laura Bradley, Maggie Grimmer and Jocelyn Dougan had assists for the Panthers, who have won back-to-back games.

Maggie Beaton and Joleen MacInnis scored power-play goals for Dalhousie.

Marie-Soleil Deschenes made 29 saves for the win while Jeanne Morin stopped 30 shots in the loss.

The game was scoreless through the first 20 minutes while the Panthers led 3-1 going to the third.

The Panthers play at Saint Mary’s (12-4-1) today at 2 p.m.
