Red Wings, Vipers clash at Gardens on Sunday

Saturday’s game in Abram-Village postponed

KENSINGTON – The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers will renew their rivalry with the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings on Sunday.

The Island Junior Hockey League game, which will be played at Community Gardens, will begin at 7 p.m.

Fans are asked to note that Saturday’s game between the two arch-rivals, which was scheduled for the Evangeline Recreation Centre in Abram-Village, has been postponed. That game will now be played on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m.

The Vipers sit atop the five-team league standings at 20-4-0 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) while the Red Wings are fourth at 9-12-2, just two points back of the Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons (9-11-4).

This will be the Red Wings’ final visit to Kensington in the regular season while the Vipers will make two more trips to Abram-Village – Feb. 4 and Feb. 15.

Three of the first five head-to-head meetings between the Vipers and Red Wings have been decided by just one goal. Each team also has won by a three-goal margin on the road – 8-5 for the Vipers and 4-1 for the Red Wings.
