SUMMERSIDE – The Pownal Red Hawks went undefeated to claim the 2014 P.E.I. Police Association atom A hockey tournament here at Credit Union Place recently.

The Pownal Red Hawks celebrate after winning the 2014 P.E.I. Police Association atom A hockey tournament here at Credit Union Place in Summerside. Pownal, which went 4-0-1 (won-lost-tied), defeated the Summerside No. Two Capitals 8-2 in the championship game.

The Red Hawks opened with a convincing 9-2 win over the Alberton Regals, then skated to a 4-4 draw with the O'Leary Maroons and closed out round-robin play with a 7-0 shutout of the Tyne Valley Tornadoes.

In the semifinal, the Red Hawks managed a solid 4-1 win over the Maroons to punch their ticket to the championship game.

In the final, Colby Lea scored five goals to lead Pownal to the title with an 8-2 decision over the Summerside No. Two Capitals. Dylan MacLean, Evan Doherty and Lucas Proud added single tallies.

For Summerside No. Two, Liam Greenan and Hayden Gallant contributed markers.

The No. Two Capitals dropped their opener 5-0 to the Maroons, then posted a 3-3 tie with the Tyne Valley Tornadoes, before finishing the round robin with a 6-0 shutout of the Alberton Regals.

In the semifinals, the No. Two Capitals punched their ticket to the final defeating rival Summerside No. One Capitals 5-1 to punch their ticket to the final.
