Wight’s hat trick leads Vipers

KENSINGTON – Adam Wight’s hat trick led the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers to a 9-3 victory over the Holland College Hurricanes on Sunday night.

The Island Junior Hockey League game attracted 210 fans to Community Gardens.

Jordan Mayhew (2-1), Zen Hamil (1-2), Jeremy Jollimore (1-1), Spencer McAllister and Brandon Gallant also lit the lamp for the league-leading Vipers, who are now 20-4-0 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses). Brett Hogan (2), Ryan Kelly (2), Josh Bowman, Tanner McGuigan, Ty Price, Ryan Murray, Logan Garnhum and Kyle Doucette chipped in with assists.

For the Hurricanes, Pat Cummiskey (1-1), Logan Toole and Will Connolly found the back of the net. Mark MacMillan (2), Eric Locke, Mason Baker and Adam Sanderson drew helpers.

Dylan McQuaid was the winning goaltender. Overall, the Vipers outshot the Hurricanes 38-25.

After a scoreless opening frame, the Vipers took a 5-3 cushion into the final 20 minutes.

Referee Thane Arsenault called six minors, two 10-minute misconducts, one fighting major and one game misconduct against the Hurricanes. The Vipers were called for eight minors, two 10-minute misconducts, one fighting major and one game misconduct.

Holland College dropped to 4-16-2.
