Quick start paces Flyers past Kensington

MONCTON, N.B. – The Moncton Flyers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period, and never looked back en route to a 6-1 win over the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild on Saturday night.

The Flyers built period leads of 3-0 and 6-1 in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League contest.

Alexandre Bernard (2-1), Liam Conrad (1-1), Patrick Landry, Ryan Chiasson and Zach Adams scored for the Flyers, who visit the Charlottetown Islanders at MacLauchlan Arena on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. Justin LeBlanc (2), Kari Belec, Jarrett Crossman, Nolan Alward, Felix LeBlanc and Christian Gregan chipped in with assists.

Max Morrison, assisted by Michael Evoy, answered for the Wild, who host the Fredericton Canadiens at Community Gardens on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Winning goaltender was Maxim Landry, and Bradley Shea took the loss. Moncton outshot Kensington 27-23.

The Wild was assessed six of the game’s 10 minor penalties.
