Shea’s late goal lifts Aces to big win

SLEMON PARK – Rylie Shea’s goal at 14:46 of the third period broke a 3-3 tie, lifting the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces to an important 4-3 victory over the Summerside Source for Sports Capitals on Tuesday night.

The win opened up a four-point lead for the third-place Aces over the Capitals, who could have pulled even with a regulation-time victory. The Aces’ record is now 14-7-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) while the Caps fell to 12-10-1 in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.

At The Plex in Slemon Park, Tyson Carragher, Jacob LeClair and Shelby LeClair also scored for Tignish, which held period leads of 1-0 and 3-1. Charlie Bernard (2), Parker Arsenault, Karter Hackett, Kirk Ramsay and Troy Gallant drew assists.

Tyler Peters (1-1), Brad Thibideau and Johnny Johnson countered for the Capitals. Branson Groom, Matt MacDonald and Nathan Arsenault helped set up the goals.

Chase Dyment picked up the goaltending win over Catlin Sonier.

Referee Thane Arsenault called nine minor penalties against the Aces. The Caps were whistled for six minors, one major for checking to the head, one 10-minute misconduct and one game misconduct.
