Junior Lynx widen lead over Belfast

CRAPAUD – The Southside Lynx widened their lead atop the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Saturday night.

The Lynx scored four goals in each of the first two periods in an 8-0 rout over the second-place Belfast Sabres. The Lynx took a 16-2-3 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) record and a four-point lead over the Sabres into Sunday night’s home game against the third-place Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces. Game time at the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud is 5:50 p.m.

Cody Dawson had two goals and an assist while Colton Dawson scored once and helped set up two others and Rob Miller chipped in with three helpers to lead the Lynx against the Sabres. Joel McIsaac (1-1), Spencer Dougay (1-1), Greg Beckingham, Kevin Noonan and affiliated player Brady VanderVelden also scored for the Lynx. Andy Murphy, Alex MacLeod, Ivan McPhail and Brandon Green also earned assists.

John Miller registered an 18-save shutout.

Referee Jonny Martin called eight minors, three fighting majors and three game misconducts against the Sabres. The Lynx received four minors, three fighting majors and three game misconducts.
