Reggie Traccitto scored 52 seconds into overtime as the UPEI Panthers defeated the St. Thomas Tommies 4-3 Saturday in Fredericton.

Harrison McIver shorthanded, Dana Fraser on the power play and Chris DeSousa also scored for the Panthers. Traccitto, a fourth-year UPEI defenceman from Oakville, Ont., had two assists while singles went to Nathan McQuaid, Matt Maione, Wayne Savage, Jordan Mayer and Fraser.

Marc-Andre Levesque, Steve Sanza on the power play and Michael Beaudry replied with St. Thomas’ markers.

The host Tommies led 1-0 after the first but trailed 3-2 going to the third.

Savage stopped 28 shots for the win while Jonathan Groenheyde made 36 saves in the loss.

UPEI improved to 8-7-1 while St. Thomas is 5-11-2

The fifth-place Panthers are two points back of third place with two games in hand. They host Moncton Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a postponed game from Nov. 20.
