Of East Coast Ice Jam hockey tournament
BEDFORD, N.S. – The Kensington Wild has advanced to the Sweet 16 of the East Coast Ice Jam hockey tournament.
The Wild lost 4-2 to the Cape Breton Tradesmen on Friday night to complete round-robin play at 2-1 (won-lost). The Wild’s exact placing and schedule for Saturday was unavailable at press time.
The tournament features bantam AAA and major midget divisions. The Wild and Charlottetown Islanders are competing in major midget while two P.E.I. teams – Sherwood Falcons and Mid-Isle Matrix – are in the bantam AAA competition.
Things started on a positive for the Wild, who held period leads of 2-0 and 2-1 over Cape Breton. However, Cape Breton answered back with three unanswered goals in the third period.
Kyle Pinksen and Sam Jay scored for the Wild while Kensington goaltender Bradley Shea faced 32 shots.
