Bantam Matrix drops one-goal decision at East Coast Ice Jam

BEDFORD, N.S. – The Mid-Isle Matrix dropped a 3-2 decision to the Pro Hockey Life Harbour Storm in the East Coast Ice Jam hockey tournament here in a late game Thursday night.

The result left the Matrix winless in two games. Mid-Isle also lost 4-2 to the Scotsburn Crushers on Thursday afternoon.

The tournament features bantam AAA and major midget divisions. Mid-Isle plays in the P.E.I. Irving Oil Bantam AAA Hockey League.

The Matrix will close out round-robin play against the Accel Hawks on Friday at 3:15 p.m.

Against the Storm, Hikaru Kinowaki opened the scoring for the Matrix, and Cameron Roberts pulled Mid-Isle into a 2-2 tie early in the third period. Noah Stewart, Nick Trainor and Tyler Gallant picked up assists.

The first period was scoreless, and the Storm led 2-1 after the second.

Caelen Ferguson faced 26 shots in goal for the Matrix.
