Caps pull out one-goal win over first-place Sabres

SLEMON PARK – The Summerside Source for Sports Capitals pulled out a one-goal victory over the first-place Belfast Sabres in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Tuesday night.

The final score at The Plex in Slemon Park was 3-2.

Greg Arsenault (2) and Johnny Johnson scored for the fourth-place Capitals, who improved to 11-8-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) while extending their winning streak to three games. Matt MacDonald (2), Travis Thibideau, Nathan Arsenault, Zack MacDonald and Tyler Peters chipped in with helpers.

Bradley Doiron and Nolan Irving replied for the Sabres (15-4-1).

The score was tied 1-1 after the opening period, but Summerside took a 3-1 advantage into the second intermission.

Catlin Sonier earned the goaltending win, and Ben Ladner took the loss.
