MacIsaac, Murphy lead Lynx into first-place tie

SOURIS – Joel MacIsaac and Andy Murphy each recorded five points in leading the Southside Lynx into a first-place tie in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.

MacIsaac had a hat trick and two assists while Murphy scored twice and helped set up three others in Southside’s 8-3 victory over the Souris Hawks on Sunday night.

Tyler Buote (1-3), Marshall Thomas (1-1) and Rob Miller also scored for the Lynx, who upped their record to 14-2-3 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses). Southside and the Belfast Sabres (15-3-1) are now tied for top spot with 31 points each.

Drew McInnis, Ryan Compton and TJ Donahue countered for the Hawks (8-7-2).

The score was tied 2-2 after the first period, but Southside built a 6-2 advantage at the end of 40 minutes while outshooting Souris 45-34 overall.

Winning goaltender was John Miller.
