DIEPPE, N.B. – The MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) has named Summerside Western Capitals forward Brad Power the Pro Design Cresting rookie of the month for December.

Summerside Western Capitals forward Brad Power, 8, battles with former Cap Justin Rasmussen for the puck during Saturday’s MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) game at Eastlink Arena.

In six games, the 17-year-old from St. John's, N.L., scored six goals. He twice netted a pair of goals in the same game, including on Dec. 20 when he was named the game's first star in a 5-2 victory over the Yarmouth Mariners.

Power currently sits second in rookie scoring with 15 goals and 28 points in 30 games to this point in the season.

After spending last season with the Bay State Breakers of the United States Premier Junior Hockey League, he was a 14th-round selection of the Moncton Wildcats in the 2013 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.
